Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted Sam Allardyce is the right man to be in charge of West Brom next season even if they suffer relegation.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England striker admitted he was “angry” when Allardyce replaced Slaven Bilic in December but he has changed his mind after their recent performances.
Football Insider revealed last week the former England boss is ready to stay at the Hawthorns next season regardless of what division they are in.
He has a break clause in the 18-month contract he signed last year but currently has no plans to activate it.
Asked whether Allardyce was the right man to lead Albion in the Championship, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “100 per cent. I think it’s a no brainer.
“You know Allardyce, it will probably depend on the bonus for promotion and what the salary is.
“What he’s done there, at first I was a bit angry that Bilic got the sack and didn’t get the time, but once he’s got his feet under the desk he’s got them playing good football.
“I’m sure it makes sense for everybody to get him back in there next season and get them promoted.
“I think he will, with the squad they’ve got, if they can keep everyone they’ve got a good chance of coming back up.”
West Brom are staring down the barrel of Premier League relegation with four games left to play.
They are 10 points from safety and could be relegated before their game with Arsenal on Sunday.
