Agbonlahor issues ‘100%’ West Ham-Tottenham claim after what he’s seen

Gabby Agbonlahor has backed West Ham to finish in the top-six once again this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted keeping Michail Antonio and Declan Rice fit and available will be key to where West Ham finish this term.

Last season, David Moyes guided the Hammers to a sixth-place finish in the Premier League – their highest Premier League finish since the 1998-99 season.

West Ham

They have made a strong start to their Europa League campaign having won their opening three group games.

It has not affected their league form either with Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Tottenham lifting them into the top-four, five points behind leaders Chelsea.

“I feel like they’ll definitely finish in the top six,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“They remind of the Aston Villa team I played in under Martin O’Neill for two or three seasons, they’re similar to that team. Fighting for the top-four, just missing out but getting into Europe and playing in the Uefa Cup as it was then, Europa League now.

“They’re a dangerous side. As long as they can keep this side together, the likes of Michail Antonio and Declan Rice are vital to the team, they’ll definitely be in and around the top-six this season.

“They’ll definitely be ahead of the likes of Spurs, Arsenal and Everton, 100 per cent.”

West Ham have also progressed to the last 16 of the Carabao Cup after beating Man United at Old Trafford in the round of 32.

They host holders Man City at the London Stadium on Wednesday night for a place in the quarter-final.
