Agbonlahor issues ‘big’ Phil Foden claim after source’s near-£80m Man City reveal
Phil Foden deserves his new bumper contract at Man City, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Foden has proven he can perform in “big” games.
Sources told Football Insider earlier this week (25 September) that Man City have reached an agreement in principle with the 22-year-old over a new deal.

His current contract has less than two years left to run and expires in the summer of 2024.
It is believed that Foden has now agreed a £250,000-a-week six-year deal that will be worth around £78million in total.
That will put his salary closer to the best-paid stars at the Eithad including Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne and Jack Grealish.
Foden has established himself as a key player in Pep Guardiola’s side and has started all seven Premier League games this season as City sit second in the table.
Asked whether the England international deserves his new deal, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Definitely.
“He deserves every penny. He’s put the performances in, shown what Phil Foden’s about and has shown up in big games.
“He deserves that contract. When you see what some of the players earn in the Premier League, it doesn’t matter about his age, he deserves that money.”

Foden made his first-team debut in November 2017 and has amassed 179 appearances across all competitions.
The 18-time England international has scored 48 goals, provided 35 assists and won 11 major trophies in his time as a senior Man City player.
