Agbonlahor issues ‘bizarre’ Leeds United claim after ‘unlucky’ Jesse Marsch sacking
Gabby Agbonlahor insisted Jesse Marsch was “unlucky” at Leeds United and that the club’s board rushed the decision to sack him.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, believes Leeds could “pay the price” for not lining up a guaranteed replacement for the American manager.
Leeds announced on 6 February that Marsch had been relieved of his duties at Elland Road after the Whites lost 1-0 to fellow relegation candidates Nottingham Forest.

The 49-year-old was in charge of the club for a year after replacing Marcelo Bielsa and steering the club clear of relegation last season.
Marsch is yet to be replaced by club owner Andrea Radrizzani, who stuck with temporary manager Michael Skubala for both clashes against Manchester United and the loss to Everton.
Agbonlahor believes the board’s decision to sack Marsch without organising a replacement is a “bizarre” decision and one that could prove costly for Leeds this season.
“I think they rushed the decision to sack him to be honest,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury.
“If there was turmoil then I understand sacking Jesse Marsch, but he was unlucky.
“He was very unfortunate in a few games and there were a number of games where he didn’t get the results that the performance deserved.
“The board shouldn’t be sacking anyone without a guaranteed replacement lined up.

“They wouldn’t sack a centre-forward if they didn’t have a backup at the club.
“It was a very bizarre decision from Leeds and they could pay the price this season.“
