Agbonlahor issues verdict on Arsenal sealing ‘£200m’ Moises Caicedo double deal

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Arsenal are unlikely to sign both Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo – suggesting it will cost “£200million” to seal a double deal.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested upgrades on the likes of Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka and Jorghino should be a priority for the Gunners.

Sources told this site on Thursday (4 May) that Arsenal are still monitoring Brighton star Caicedo, 21, as they eye up a summer swoop.

The Ecuador international has signed a new long-term contract at the Amex Stadium since the Gunners persued him in the January window.

Football Insider also revealed on Thursday that Arsenal are confident of securing the signing of Declan Rice this summer – despite West Ham asking for a fee of £100million for his services.

Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey have been in and out of the lineup in recent weeks with Mikel Arteta’s side looking set to miss out on the Premier League title to Man City.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “Looking at Thomas Partey, he’s not been very good recently.

“I’ve watched his last few games and it seems that he doesn’t have the legs. I do think they need help in midfield.

“Xhaka is questionable as well, and Jorghino isn’t the answer long-term.

“I do think Declan Rice and Caicedo would be good business, a good pair – but I can’t see them spending £200m on both of them.

“It’s got to be one or the other.

“I think Caicedo will want to leave Brighton this summer and that new contract isn’t likely to stop that.”
