Agbonlahor issues verdict on Pep Guardiola’s Man City future amid Real Madrid claim

Pep Guardiola will sign a new contract with Man City because he will not leave until they win the Champions League, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Real Madrid will stop Man City from lifting the trophy this season.

As quoted by BBC Sport earlier this month (11 November), Guardiola insisted his contract situation is “under control” with his current terms set to expire at the end of the season.

The Daily Mail reported last week (13 November) that the World Cup break will prove critical as the 51-year-old considers his future.

It is claimed that he will have meetings with club chiefs in Abu Dubai during the break to inform them of his decision.

Asked for his verdict on Guardiola’s future, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I think he will continue.

“There is no rush for Pep to try and move.

“I can tell you that he’ll have unfinished business because I don’t think they’ll win the Champions League this season and he’ll want to win it with them before he leaves the club.

“I have Real Madrid winning it again. They’ve strengthened from last season and are better than what they were, Antonio Rudiger has come in.”

Guardiola has won 11 major trophies during his seven-year spell with the club, including four Premier League titles.

He last won the Champions League with Barcelona in the 2010-11 season and he has not won the trophy without Lionel Messi.
