Agbonlahor lambasts Eric Dier as Tottenham footage emerges - 'I hate it'
Eric Dier deserves to be “punished” at Tottenham for constantly playing back to the goalkeeper, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker admitted he “hated” Dier’s actions that led to Liverpool’s second goal in their 2-1 win over Spurs on Sunday (6 November).
The 28-year-old was under no pressure as he tried to head back a long Alisson kick to Hugo Lloris only for it to fall short.
Mohamed Salah nicked in and lifted it over Lloris and score the goal that proved decisive for Liverpool who picked up a much-needed three points.
“I did feel that Darwin Nunez and Salah looked very sharp but when you look at the goals, there’s a mistake from Eric Dier in there,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“I really hate when players want to play it back to the keeper. That header back to the keeper was not even on. He got punished for always wanting to play back to the keeper.

“He could have chested it down and played forward so he deserved that.
“On the first goal, how can a ball get played in and Salah and Nunez both be on their own when you’ve got so many players in the box?
“It’s communication and they gifted Liverpool those goals.”
Dier has featured in all 14 of Tottenham’s Premier League games this season.
He has refound his best form under Antonio Conte and won back his place in the England squad for the September internationals.
