Agbonlahor lambasts Eric Dier as Tottenham footage emerges - 'It scares me'
Gabby Agbonlahor has admitted he has been left “scared” by Eric Dier’s defending at Tottenham in recent weeks.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker questioned whether Dier deserved his place in the England squad for the World Cup in Qatar.
As shown on the BBC’s Match of the Day programme, the 28-year-old was exposed during Leeds United’s opening goal in their 4-3 defeat to Spurs on Saturday (12 November).
Crysencio Summerville was easily able to outmuscle and outpace his opponent before finishing calmly past Hugo Lloris.
Dier also made a mistake that gifted Mohamed Salah a goal in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Tottenham last week (6 November).
“I watched the first goal from Summerville and Dier and Emerson Royal were waiting for each other to get out to him and The way he took it past Dier was like he wasn’t there,” Hackett told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“This is what scares me for the World Cup if Dier is playing. He lacks that speed and gets found out by quick players.
“Maybe when Romero was playing he could cover for him and make him look better.
“It’s going to be a test, definitely, for that England defence at the World Cup.
“For me, [Fikayo] Tomori could have gone. I’ve heard he’s not far off Kyle Walker’s speed so it’s strange that he didn’t get one more quick defender in there.”
Dier won his place back in the England squad for the internationals in September.
Prior to that, he last played for his country in November 2020.
