Agbonlahor lambasts Erling Haaland after Man City details emerge – ‘it’s not good enough’

Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted Man City “need more” from Erling Haaland and claimed his recent form is “not good enough”.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, accused the 22-year-old of “waiting for a tap-in” rather than making his own goals when City aren’t playing well.

In his last three appearances – totalling 215 minutes against Man United, Southampton, and Chelsea – Haaland has failed to register a single shot on target.

Man City

The Norway international has scored 27 goals in his first 24 appearances for Man City after signing last summer.

Pep Guardiola’s side are now eight points adrift of league leaders Arsenal after losing 2-1 at the hands of city rivals Man United on Saturday (14 January).

City face fifth-place Tottenham on Thursday (19 January).

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “The biggest thing for me with Haaland is – I look at him and think that City need more from him.

“He needs to get involved more and even come off the defenders and get his own goals sometimes.

“Sometimes it looks like he’s just waiting for a chance to be on a plate, he’s waiting for that tap-in.

“The best strikers of the last 30 years make their own goals. Didier Drogba, Thierry Henry – look at the goals they scored.

“You can’t always be waiting for the pass. It’s not good enough, and City need more.

“He’s been outstanding, but a lot of strikers would score goals in this City team.

“He’s just waiting around at the moment.”
