Agbonlahor: 'Leeds will destroy' Premier League rivals after what I've seen at headquarters

Leeds United will destroy some Premier League teams this season, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker admitted he bet on Leeds to beat Watford at Elland Road this weekend because of their attacking quality.

A Diego Llorente goal separated the two sides struggling towards the wrong end of the Premier League table.

As quoted by Leeds Live after the game, Marcelo Bielsa admitted he was “relieved” after his side earned their first three points of the season.

“It was an expected win,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“I actually put a bet on Leeds to win the game because I expected them to.

“Leeds will beat teams like Watford at home because teams that want to match Leeds and the way they will play, Leeds will destroy. Their attacking players are not as good.

“If Leeds play end-to-end football against a team like Watford, I expect Leeds to outscore them. They only beat them 1-0.

“Going forward, Watford aren’t that great so Leeds were always going to win that game.

“It’s when Leeds play like they play against sides that have quality attackers that they’ll lose.

“It was a good result for Leeds, they’ve just got to build on that now. It gives them a bit of breathing space.

“They’ve got to come back from the international break, get some players back fit, and try and win some more games.”

Leeds travel to Southampton straight after the international break on October 16.

The Saints are winless in the Premier League and are just two points and a place behind the Whites.

In other news, a Leeds United star is likely to be ruled out for “six weeks” after an update.
