Agbonlahor makes bold Benrahma prediction after Moyes’ West Ham dig

Gabby Agbonlahor has backed Said Benrahma to add goals and assists to his game for West Ham this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward insisted Benrahma can no longer just be a “fancy” player and must be more clinical than last season.

The Algeria international scored his second and provided his second assist of the season in West Ham’s 4-1 win over Leicester City on Monday night.

Last season, the 26-year-old managed just one goal and six assists in 30 Premier League games.

As quoted by football.london after the game, David Moyes suggested Benrahma was not a “team player” last season.

He moved to the Hammers from Brentford last season, initially on loan, before the deal was made permanent for £25million in January.

“Last season was his introduction to the Premier League,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“This season he looks more hungry to score goals, he’s getting into the box more and getting assists as well.

“He knows that you can’t just be a fancy player in the Premier League now without getting the stats. It’s the same with Martin Odegaard last season, he’s under pressure this season.

“You have to get the stats as well as being a fancy player and I think Benrahma will do that this season.”

Benrahma scored 27 times and provided 24 assists in 83 Championship games for Brentford.

He has now scored three times and provided nine assists in 35 games across all competitions for West Ham.

In other news, West Ham fans should be worried by a “surprise” Moyes transfer admission.
