Agbonlahor makes bold Smith sack prediction after Aston Villa source reveal
Dean Smith will be Aston Villa manager for a “long while”, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the Aston Villa icon and boyhood fan insisted the club have had a good start to the season given the major squad turnover in the summer.
Villa lost club captain and talisman Jack Grealish to Man City in the transfer window and brought in five players, including Danny Ings, Emiliano Buendia and Leon Bailey, to the first-team squad.
They started the season with a shock defeat to newly-promoted Watford and they recorded just one win in their opening four games.
As a result, an Aston Villa source told Football Insider on September 14 Smith was coming under increased pressure and had to turn it around before the October international break.
Since then, Villa recorded convincing wins over Everton and away to Man United before their narrow defeat to Tottenham at the weekend.

Asked whether he had done enough to prove his worth, Agbonlahor told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley: “As a Villa fan, there was never any pressure on him and I’m probably echoing what most Villa fans think.
“He’s the man I want in charge, he loves the club. He’s been making big decisions that the big managers make.
“I’m sure he’ll be Aston Villa manager for a long while.
“He’s getting used to a new squad of players. He’s got four or five players new into the squad.
“I think he’s still looking for the best formation for the players.
“There’s nothing wrong with how they’re doing at the moment, they’re mid-table at the moment and have come through a tough run of games.”
