Agbonlahor makes 'perfect' claim after Aston Villa's Bailey update
Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted Leon Bailey’s injury woes should not concern Aston Villa.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer claimed the club can afford to take their time with Bailey as the international break is due at the “perfect” time.
The summer signing is still yet to make his first start for Dean Smith’s side but has still managed a goal and an assist in three substitute appearances.
Smith revealed last week (September 23), via BBC Sport, that the Jamaica international will return to action after the international break.
He suffered a quad injury while scoring against Everton and had to be replaced despite himself coming on as a substitute.
Asked whether Bailey’s fitness woes should worry Villa, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Not really, no.

“It depends how the injury occurs. He got injured scoring a goal and I think everyone would get injured kicking the ball as hard as he did for his goal.
“No, I’m not worried. They’ve got to take their time with him.
“If I was Aston Villa I’d just give him the time now to get up to speed physically and don’t rush him back now.
“There’s the international break coming up now and there’s one in November as well. That’s come at a perfect time.
“Just let the injury heal, give him a couple of Under-23s games to ease him in gently.
“That’s what Aston Villa will do, they’re not in a rush for Leon Bailey to get back into the side. They’ve got other quality wingers who cannot even get a kick at the minute with El Ghazi, Traore and Ashley Young as well.
“Villa will take their time with him and make sure he’s right when they bring him back.”
