Agbonlahor makes Vincent Kompany verdict as unexpected Tottenham news emerges
Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted Burnley boss Vincent Kompany should resist interest from Tottenham and test his Premier League credentials at Turf Moor.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed taking the hot seat in north London could compromise a potential move to Man City in the future.
According to The Sun (30 March), Kompany has emerged as a shock contender for the Spurs job after impressing during his time at Championship table-toppers Burnley.
The report claims the former Man City defender would be interested in taking the Tottenham hot seat.
Kompany’s Burnley side are 13 points clear at the top of the Championship and can secure promotion with two wins from their next nine games.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (28 March) that Tottenham have made contact with Julien Nagelsmann’s representatives after his sacking at Bayern Munich.
Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think it’s too early for him to go to Spurs.
“He should stay at Burnley. He’s got them up – what would it say about him if he left straight away?
“It doesn’t make sense. I’m sure he’ll want to test his Premier League credentials at Burnley, and I think it’s too soon to jump to a much bigger job.
“The fans love him where he is right now. He’s been talked about as the replacement for Pep Guardiola – why would he put that on the line by going to Spurs?”

Speaking to club media (17 March), Man City boss Pep Guardiola backed Kompany to take the reigns at the Etihad Stadium in the future.
The Belgian is under contract at Burnley until June 2025.
