Agbonlahor: 'Molineux is a fortress' and this is where Wolves will finish this season

Wolves are going under the radar but may not have enough to finish the season in the Premier League’s top six.

That is the view of ex-Aston Villa and England forward Gabby Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Wolves climbed into sixth for the first time this season.

Their 1-0 win over high-flying West Ham at the weekend lifted them into the European places.

After three consecutive 1-0 defeats at the beginning of the season, Bruno Lage’s side have now lost just one of their last seven Premier League games.

That includes a run of three consecutive wins at home and Agbonlahor claimed Molineux is becoming a “fortress”.

“Wolves are really going about their business quietly,” he told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“They started their season in dreadful form but they have picked up a lot.

“West Ham would have thought to themselves ‘This is three points against Wolves’.

“Wolves battered them and were very organised with their formation. Molineux is becoming a fortress now and teams will not want to go there.

“They will be fine but I think they will finish between eighth and 10th. They don’t have enough to finish in the top six.”

Nuno Espirito Santo led the Midlands giants to two seventh-place finished in his first two seasons in the Premier League before their 13th-place finish last term.

They were in sixth last November before Raul Jimenez suffered his career-threatening skull injury against Arsenal at the Emirates.

In other news, there is a big update on Wolves’ bid to sign Hwang Hee-Chan in January as Liverpool chase a deal.
