Agbonlahor on Ange Postecoglou quitting Celtic after confirmed news

Brighton may appoint an unknown coach as their new manager and not a “big name” like Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted Brighton will want a manager who plays similar football to Graham Potter.

The Premier League club confirmed last week (8 September) that Potter had left to take over the vacant job at Chelsea.

The Telegraph reported on Saturday (10 September) that the Seagulls are interested in Postecoglou but it is claimed he does not want to leave Celtic.

After winning the title in his first season in charge, the 57-year-old is currently overseeing their first Champions League campaign since the 2017-18 season.

“They will search far and wide, Brighton, for a manager that plays similar football to Graham Potter.

“He ticked every box for Brighton, had them exciting their fans, entertaining them. I don’t just see them going for anybody, it will have to be the right manager.

“It might not be a big name, it might be someone we’re not aware of. It could be someone who is managing in the Under-23s or in a lesser league in Europe.

“If they suit what the Brighton board want and the football they want to play, maybe that’s the manager that they go for.”

Postecoglou signed a one-year rolling contract when he took over at Parkhead last summer (2021).

Celtic are currently top of the Scottish Premiership, five points clear of Rangers after just six games.
