Agbonlahor on Man City axing Erling Haaland after analysing BT Sport footage

Erling Haaland is immune to Pep Guardiola’s rotation policy at Man City, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Haaland gets his rest by coming off after an hour.

The 22-year-old has started all nine of Man City’s games across all competitions this season, scoring 13 goals in the process.

The latest came in the 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday night (15 September) where he played the full 90 minutes and scored a stunning winner.

It was just the fourth time that Haaland has completed 90 minutes this season.

As quoted by the Guardian after the game, Guardiola claimed Haaland’s goal against his former side was “exceptional”.

“Pep Guardiola will have stats that look at distance covered, sprints and high intensity,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Maybe his distance covered is less than other players so he doesn’t need as much of a rest.

“Maybe the rest that Haaland will get will be coming off after 60 minutes. Pep will also look at the fact that he’s not going to the World Cup so he can use that time to get rest.

“There are a lot of factors that will come into it. I don’t think he will rest Haaland at all, to be honest.”

Haaland already has 10 Premier League goals in six appearances this season putting him clear in the race for the golden boot.

Fulham’s Alexander Mitrovic is next on the list with six goals.

In other news, Man City have been handed the advantage over Liverpool in the title race after an official announcement.
