Agbonlahor on Wolves appointing Sean Dyche amid £20m reveal

Wolves will appoint a Portuguese manager and not Sean Dyche, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker warned that Wolves will be in real danger of relegation if they do not get the appointment right.

The Midlands club have been without a manager since Bruno Lage’s sacking earlier this month (2 October).

Steve Davis has been placed in temporary charge but has not been able to oversee a turn in fortunes.

The 3-0 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday (8 October) made it four consecutive defeats and they remain in the bottom three.

The Sun reported last week (2 October) that Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim is the club’s top target but he will cost £20million in compensation.

Asked whether they could look to Dyche instead, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “No, I think they’ll bring in a Portuguese manager with so many Portuegese players.

“Wolves really need to get it right. Sometimes, when you give managers a big say look what happens.

“You lose Conor Coady, you lose Bolly. These defenders should be starting for Wolves, they don’t look strong at the back.

“They’ve got injury problems with their strikers.

“For me, Wolves need to be very careful as to who they bring in because, for me, they could be in a relegation battle as well.”

Wolves

Wolves have only scored three times in the Premier League this season and no other club has fewer goals in the division.

They are next in action on Saturday (15 October) when they welcome fellow strugglers Nottingham Forest to Molineux.

In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed that Fosun may be set to starve Wolves of cash amid a financial crisis.
