Agbonlahor shares Riyad Mahrez quit claim after £120m Man City offer reveal
Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Man City should fight to keep Riyad Mahrez at the club amid strong interest from Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Ahli.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 32-year-old remains a “delight to watch” despite his advancing years.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (13 June) that Mahrez has rejected an offer from Al-Ahli as they look to make him the latest big-name player to join the Saudi Pro League.
A stunning three-year offer worth £40million-a-year was knocked back, but the Middle East outfit are preparing an improved package for the Algeria international.
Mahrez has two years left to run on his contract at the Etihad Stadium.
The winger contributed 15 goals and 13 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions as Man City won a historic treble.
However, the former Leicester star was benched for each of their last five Champions League games – with Bernardo Silva preferred in his right-wing role.
Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I wouldn’t let him go, no.
“You look at Mahrez – he doesn’t look like he’s 32 when he’s on the pitch.
“He’s so athletic still – and he’s a really important player.
“He hasn’t been playing much, so it wouldn’t surprise me if he does go. We know Pep likes to change a couple of players every summer.

“Saudi Arabia will pay big money to get it done. I can see Bernardo Silva and Mahrez going.
“But if I was in charge at Man City, I’d keep him because he is a delight to watch.”
