Agbonlahor shares two-word verdict on Tottenham signing Sterling as player stance revealed

There is “no chance” Raheem Sterling or Gabriel Jesus would be interested in moving to Tottenham, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward insisted it was “ridiculous” to suggest Sterling would take the step down from Manchester City to Spurs.

The Sun reported on May 31 that City were prepared to offer Sterling and Jesus in a part-exchange for Harry Kane.

Football Insider learned earlier this week (June 8) that Sterling has no interest in moving to Tottenham.

That is not to say his future at the Etihad is secure but he would only consider a move to another Champions League club.

A City source told Football Insider that Pep Guardiola is willing to sell the versatile attacker if his £80million valuation is met.

“I think it’s ridiculous to think Sterling would want to leave for Spurs,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Raheem Sterling has been outstanding for Manchester City, there’s no chance he would leave City to go to Spurs or Arsenal. No chance.

“He’s a top player who wants to play Champions League football.

“He’s scored lots of goals for Manchester City and is a top player. They’re sort of Football Manager transfers. There’s no chance Sterling or Jesus would want to go to Spurs.”

Sterling scored 14 goals and provided 12 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions for City last season despite falling down the pecking order.

The 26-year-old has now found the net 114 times and provided 87 assists in 292 games for Guardiola’s side.

In other news, Tottenham are set to land a huge windfall as a transfer is agreed.
