Agbonlahor slams Rodrigo as Bielsa's Leeds plan revealed by Hay
Leeds United are “crying out for a number 10” and Rodrigo looks lost in the position, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker delivered his verdict after Rodrigo was substituted at half-time against Liverpool at the weekend.
It is the second time already this season that the Spaniard has been hooked at the interval after being in the starting XI.
The Athletic‘s Phil Hay reported on September 13 Marcelo Bielsa wants to persist with Rodrigo as a number 10.
Leeds signed the 30-year-old from Valencia for a club-record £29million fee last summer after he spent the previous campaign playing as a striker.
Asked for his assessment of his season so far, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Rodrigo as a number 10 just doesn’t work.

“Sometimes strikers playing as a number 10 can work but whenever I’ve seen it with Leeds they just look confused. You see Rodrigo chasing midfielders around, not holding the ball up and making the right passes from the number 10 position.
“Leeds are crying out for a number 10, a James Maddison, a Jack Grealish, an Emi Buendia, and they haven’t got one.
“Even when they brought Tyler Roberts on he wasn’t the answer. For me, he’s not a Premier League player.”
Rodrigo has now played 32 times across all competitions for the Whites, scoring seven goals and providing two assists.
That includes four goals in the last four Premier League games of last season.
