Agbonlahor: 'Smith will be buzzing' after surprise Ings reveal at Aston Villa
Dean Smith will be “buzzing” Danny Ings has added an outstanding good work rate to his game at Aston Villa, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer revealed he “loved” how hard Ings worked despite his recent barren run in front of goal.
The 29-year-old scored twice in the first two Premier League games of the season but has not found the net since.
However, he has retained his place in the starting XI up front alongside Ollie Watkins in a 3-5-2.
According to Birmingham Live (October 4), Ings’ 58 pressures in the final third put him in the top three in the Premier League.
Before his move to Villa Park, the three-cap England star was known for his penalty-box play and not for his work rate.

“I like the partnership [of Ings and Watkins],” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“They’re both quality players. What I love about Ings is he works so hard. There are so many incidents where he tracks back and makes tackles for the team when he doesn’t really have to as the second striker up there.
“He knows the goals aren’t flying in at the moment so he’s adding work rate to his game which is something Dean Smith will be buzzing about.
“They’re getting used to playing that formation, it’s a new formation for them as a squad. The more they play it, the more they’ll get out of each other.
“The stat just shows that when you’ve got a good manager like Dean Smith, he might be demanding these things.
“Certain managers I worked under demanded high work rate and high pressing. That’s what Dean Smith demands, not just attacking, you’ve got to defend as well.
“It’s been going on in the game for a long time and I’m sure it will continue.”
