Agbonlahor stunned as 'incredible' Wolves off-the-ball footage emerges

Wolves celebrated their victory over Aston Villa like they had won the Champions League, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer insisted Wolves “would have been lucky to get a point, never mind a win”.

Villa were comfortably in control after an hour but conspired to concede three goals in the final 10 minutes to fall to a 3-2 defeat.

The winning goal came as Ruben Neves’ wayward free-kick deflected off Matt Targett to take it past Emi Martinez.

It sparked chaotic scenes in the away end at Villa Park that Agbonlahor felt were over the top.

He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Wolves would have been lucky to get a point, never mind a win.

“Aston Villa were the better team for the majority of the game. Maybe Wolves were the better team for the final third of the game when Daniel Podence came on.

“Wolves celebrated like they had won the Champions League, it was incredible from them.

“They’ve done well recently. I was a bit surprised that Raul Jimenez didn’t start.

“They did OK against Aston Villa but if you look at the first 60 minutes they were very poor and Villa were very good. I don’t think they’ll be getting carried away too much yet.

“But they’ve got their wins now that have put them further up the table. I’m sure they’ll be looking to build on it and try to get some more good results.”

Wolves have now four of their last five Premier League games.

Bruno Lage’s side are now 10th in the table after their win in the Midlands derby.
