Agbonlahor suggests Julian Nagelsmann U-turn amid new Tottenham reveal – ‘it’s perfect’

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed appointing Cristian Stellini until the end of the season could provide Tottenham with a “perfect” opportunity to land top manager target Julian Nagelsmann.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 35-year-old may come to Spurs “hungrier” if he takes a long break following his Bayern Munich sacking.

Sources told this site on Saturday (1 April) that Nagelsmann fears taking charge at Tottenham could damage his career.

It is believed by those close to the German that Spurs face a huge task to entice him – and it is currently regarded as a long shot.

Cristian Stellini has been placed in charge of the Lilywhites until the end of the season following the sacking of Antonio Conte last week.

Tottenham are still in the hunt for Champions League qualification but have played more games than top-four rivals Liverpool and Newcastle.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “It’s gonna be difficult for Spurs.

“But they’ve done the right thing by bringing Stellini in.

“Nagelsmann will want a break at the moment. He won’t want to go straight back in after just being sacked a week ago.

“But that break might give them a chance.

“He’ll go away on holiday, but in June – it could well be that he’s hungrier for another chance, another job.

“It could be perfect for them.

“Give him some space and get an answer at the end of the season. There’s no rush.

“I can’t see what else is out there for him at the moment. I think Spurs is the perfect challenge.”
