Agbonlahor ‘sure’ about Leeds United dressing room rebellion as Jesse Marsch claim issued

Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted the new Leeds United manager will have no problems with the number of players loyal to former boss Jesse Marsch.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the Whites stars “won’t have been happy” with the Whites’ dismal run of results in the Premier League.

Marsch was sacked by Leeds United on Monday (6 February) after less than 12 months in the hot seat at Elland Road.

Marsch oversaw the arrivals of 10 players across both windows this season – with Brenden Aaronson, Tyler Adams, Rasmus Kristensen, and Max Wober all playing under the American prior to signing for the Elland Road club.

Wober only signed for Leeds United last month and cited the link-up with his former boss as a big reason for joining.

Football Insider revealed on Friday (10 February) that the Yorkshire giants will need to make a multi-million-pound compensation payment to Feyenoord for manager target Arne Slot as talks continue.

Leeds United sit one point clear of the Premier League drop zone ahead of Sunday’s (12 February) meeting with Man United.

When asked about the potential mood in the Elland Road dressing room following Marsch’s dismissal, Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “A lot of the players Marsch brought in won’t have been happy with the results too.

“At the end of the day, it’s Leeds United who pay their wages. They’re professionals, so they have to do the right thing by the new manager.

“They will know football is ruthless. If it was these players underperforming, then the manager would have no issues getting rid of them.

“I’m sure the dressing room will be absolutely fine when the new manager comes in.”
