Agbonlahor tips Celtic to land three new signings after Kennedy’s transfer reveal
It is vital for Celtic to get the best possible price for Odsonne Edouard so they can reinvest the money on three new players.
That is according to former Aston Villa and England striker Gabriel Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after interim Hoops boss dismissed reports that the Frenchman was set to be sold for £15million.
The Daily Mail reported last week ex-Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers wanted a reunion with the 22-year-old at Leicester City and they were set to pay £15million for his services.
Kennedy told the Scotsman ahead of his side’s 0-0 draw with Dundee United at the weekend that £15million was “too cheap” for a player of Edouard’s quality.
And Agbonlahor has suggested a bigger fee could mean the Bhoys add a new striker, winger and central-midfielder in the summer.
He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I think you’ve got to get the right amount of money.
“Moussa Dembele they lost, now they look like they might lose Edouard. They want the right money because they lost the league with him in the team so without him, it’s going to be even harder to get that league title back.
“They need to get the right amount of money for him so they can invest that in a new striker so I’m sure they’ll be holding out for the biggest offer.
“You could bring in another centre-midfielder, maybe another winger. They’re going to need investment into that squad to bring in better players.”
Celtic sold Dembele for £20million to Lyon in August 2018 after he scored 51 goals in 94 games for the Hoops.
Edouard will enter the final 12 months of his contract in the summer and has found the net 81 times in 161 Celtic games.
In other news, Celtic are set to sound out a three-time title winner for his views on who their next manager should be.
