Agbonlahor tips ‘exciting’ Ramsey for Aston Villa temporary exit after ‘massive’ development

Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested Aston Villa starlet Aaron Ramsey could leave on loan in the summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer delivered his verdict after the teenager signed his first professional deal with the club.

The Daily Mail reported in January both Celtic and Ajax were interested in the 18-year-old midfielder but he instead opted to stay at Villa Park.

Ramsey, whose older brother Jacob has broken into the Villa first team, has scored six goals for the club’s Under-23s side this term.

He was not involved in the young Villa side that lost to Liverpool in the FA Cup as he was training with the first team and, therefore, had to self-isolate.

“It’s massive to keep your best young players,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

Get them tied up and keep them. I’ve heard he’s very exciting, like his brother Jacob, and may go on loan.

“He’s one that I’m sure now will be just developing in the Under-23s. We’ve got some exciting players in the Under-23s so they’ll all be developing in there.

“Maybe there might be loans for some of them in the future.

“Just playing games is key, playing for the Under-23s every week, score goals and enjoy your football.

“There’s no better club to be at if you want to break into the first team.”

Villa have five young players heading off to England Under-18 and England Under-19 duty in the upcoming international break.

That includes ex-Barcelona striker Louie Barry who scored a memorable goal in their 4-1 defeat to Liverpool in January.

In other news, Manchester United are preparing a blockbuster for an Aston Villa star who only signed last year.
