Agbonlahor tips 'perfect' Hause to start for Aston Villa start v Tottenham after training today

Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped the “outstanding” Kortney Hause to retain his place in the Aston Villa starting XI against Tottenham on Sunday.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer and boyhood fan insisted Hause took his chance to impress against Man United and Axel Tuanzebe is now Villa’s fourth-choice centre-back.

Tuanzebe was unavailable against his parent club at Old Trafford and Hause was handed his first start of the season.

He scored the only goal of the game and put in a solid display in Dean Smith’s new-look back three.

However, the defender also gave away a penalty in extra time that was blazed over the bar by Bruno Fernandes.

Asked for his assessment of Hause following the final pre-match training session today, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “The big thing for Kortney Hause is he was probably thinking ‘Every time I stepped in last season I was perfect, I played well, did nothing wrong and filled in as third-choice. Now you’ve gone to three at the back and I’m still getting overlooked?’

“Sometimes in football you take your chance when it arises. Tuanzebe couldn’t play because it was against Manchester United and that’s his club he’s on loan from.

Hause has come in, took his place, got the winner and was outstanding. Now, I’m 99 per cent sure he starts against Spurs if he sticks with the three at the back.

“I think he’s pushed Tunazebe down the pecking order to fourth and he’s now third-choice.

“I’m happy for him, it was a great header and his defending all round was very good.”
