Agbonlahor: West Brom tipped to seal four new signings after Ismael reveal

West Brom can sign four new players with the money raised by the potential sales of Matheus Pereira and Sam Johnstone.

That is the view of ex-Aston Villa and England forward Gabby Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Valerien Ismael revealed a big update on the pair’s future.

Quoted by Birmingham Live on 5 July, the new Albion boss admitted: “It is my expectation that they [Johnstone and Pereira] will leave.”

Both Johnstone and Pereira were the Baggies’ standout performers in the Premier League but their efforts were not enough to prevent them from being relegated.

“There’s no point hiding it,” Agbonkahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“They’ve been the star players and deserve to still be playing in the Premier League.

“If you’re the manager, he’s probably been told by the board ‘These are the players that we’re more likely to bids in for so they’re going to go.’

“I don’t see a problem with that. It sets the record straight and you can start planning without them for the new seasons.

“They were both outstanding last season.

“The money they get for them can help fund three or four more players and also some loans as well. It just makes sense for West Brom to get them sold.”

Johnstone made the most saves in the Premier League last season and his performances earned him a place in the England squad for the European Championships.

Meanwhile, Pereira scored 11 goals and provided six assists in 33 top-flight games, including 30 starts.
