Agbonlahor: Winks would be ‘great signing’ for Aston Villa after Paratici reveal
Harry Winks would be a “great addition” to the Aston Villa squad but would not walk into the starting XI.
That is the view of Villa’s all-time record Premier League goalscorer Gabby Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider as Villa eye a move for another Londoner as well as Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe.
Football Insider revealed on 9 June Fabio Paratici was set to tell Winks Tottenham would listen to offers for him this summer.

It is understood that Spurs would accept a bid of £30million for their academy graduate.
The Telegraph reported on 30 June Aston Villa are “monitoring” Winks’ situation.
He endured a difficult campaign last season as he managed just nine Premier League starts among 30 appearances across all competitions.
Winks was a regular in cup competitions and started the Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City.
“I think Winks is a good player,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“But we can’t underestimate the talent we’ve got in midfield already.
“Winks would be a great signing but I wouldn’t pick Winks before John McGinn, Douglas Luiz or Marvelous Nakamba.
“Just because he’s a good player it doesn’t mean he’s guaranteed to get into the team.
“Maybe as a player who can push McGinn and Luiz then he’s definitely worth bringing in. But he wouldn’t come in and be a guaranteed starter.”

Winks’ lack of form this season saw him drop out of the England squad in 2021.
The 10-time international last played for the Three Lions in a Nations League game against Iceland in November 2020.
In other news, Aston Villa have agreed a new signing on a four-year deal and an announcement is imminent.
