Agbonlahor: Wolves are ‘desperate’ after latest Nuno Espirito Santo update

It would be “desperate” for Wolves to reappoint Nuno Esperito Santo, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and Premier League forward claimed Wolves did not have a plan after sacking Bruno Lage.

Steve Davis has been in temporary charge since they parted company with Lage earlier this month (2 October) and guided them to their second win of the season against Nottingham Forest at the weekend (15 October).

The Athletic reported last week (14 October) that Wolves have held talks with Espirito Santo about a potential return to Molineux.

The 48-year-old is currently in charge of Al-Ittihad and Wolves would have to agree a compensation package with the Saudi Arabian club.

Sources told Football Insider on Tuesday (18 October) that Queens Park Rangers boss Michael Beale is also on the shortlist for the job.

“When Nuno was about to leave they were stale themselves,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He had done everything he could at that club and could not take them to the next level.

“To go back and get him again is very odd. I don’t understand the thinking on that.

“I understand sometimes players coming back but managers? I’m not too sure about that.

“I think Wolves look a bit desperate going back for Nuno. There should be another manager out there that they should be able to tempt to come to the club.

“They didn’t have a plan. They were that bad under Bruno Lage that they had to make a change.

“They definitely didn’t have a plan in place because the new manager could have signed a lot sooner.”
