Agent: This is where Liverpool 23-year-old will be playing next season

Loris Karius’ agent Florian Goll has revealed that the Liverpool goalkeeper does not plan to leave in the summer and will be at the club for the long-term future.

The Sun have reported that German club Augsburg are eying a move for the 23-year-old and that Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is pondering his future.

He slipped behind number one Simon Mignolet last season in the pecking order and his future at Anfield has come under question.

However, Karius’ agent states that there is no chance of him leaving and that he is determined to fight for his spot.

“There is absolutely nothing to the rumours that Karius will leave,” Goll told website Goal. “He did not sign at Liverpool for the short term – he believes in the vision of the manager and he wants to be fully fit and prepared to fight for the No.1 position from the first day back.

“He has already started his individual programme to keep fit during the summer, because he wants to be completely ready when pre-season starts. He is extremely motivated by the competition.”

Karius only completed a move to Liverpool last summer from Bundesliga side Mainz for £4.7million and is a highly rated young goalkeeper.

The German endured a mixed first year in English football and made 16 appearances across all competitions, keeping six clean sheets in the process.

He was kept out of contention by teammate Mignolet in the second half of the campaign, but the goalkeeping jersey could still be up for grabs under Klopp.

Karius racked up top-flight experience in Germany with Mainz and is yet to replicate that form in England.

However, he seems determined to prove himself to Klopp and could get more opportunities with Liverpool competing in both domestic and European competitions next year.

In other Liverpool transfer news, Chris Kirkland states he told the Reds to sign an England Under-21 international 18 months ago.
