Alan Hutton makes ‘£15m’ Celtic new signing claim
Brendan Rodgers is unlikely to make more new signings for Celtic this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers defender Alan Hutton was not surprised to hear that the Hoops will not be spending £15-£20million on a single player this window.
Speaking to Sky Sports (31 July), the new Celts boss said that there will be no marquee signing for the club this summer.
Rodgers ruled out a big money arrival but suggested the club are still planning new additions to the squad.
The Hoops have already welcomed five signings in the current window ahead of their league campaign kicking off on Saturday (5 August).
When asked if he was surprised by the news of no big money signing despite the club’s healthy finances, Hutton told Football Insider: “Not really.
“I do not really see the days of Rangers and Celtic spending £15m-plus on a player, I do not really think they need to at this moment in time.
“Brendan Rodgers obviously feels that the squad that he has got is strong enough to cope with the league, the cup campaigns, the Champions League.

“Would it help if they went out and spent that? Of course it would if they got the right person.
“But where do you move on from there? If you spend it once you have to continue to do it and I do not really see Rangers or Celtic going to that level at this moment in time.“
