‘Alan Myers shares Tomas Soucek and Douglas Luiz to Everton updates’

West Ham’s Tomas Soucek and Juventus’ Douglas Luiz moves have been addressed as David Moyes looks to add to his Everton squad.

The Toffees have tied down Idrissa Gueye to a new contract, signed Carlos Alcaraz to a permanent deal, and have James Garner and Tim Iroegbunam back from long-term injuries on Merseyside.

A further boost has come in the form of Jarrad Branthwaite’s brand-new contract, and fans have been excited by the £27million deal for Thierno Barry [BBC Sport], with The Friedkin Group making interesting moves.

While many fans have tried not to get overexcited for the summer transfer window, with the new owners not expected to splash the cash, both Soucek and Luiz have been linked with the Toffees.

Moyes knows the former very well from their time together at West Ham, and Luiz has a tremendous amount of experience, not just in the Premier League but also in European competition.

With many getting excited about the links to the midfield duo, Everton insider Alan Myers shared an update.

Taking to X (16 July), Myers downplayed both possible signings as he wrote: “My information is there is no agreement or even discussions, and the same with the Soucek rumours, too.”

This came after a report emerged of the Toffees beating West Ham to the signing of the former Aston Villa midfielder, who has made just three Serie A starts since joining the Old Lady.

Everton set for exciting Premier League campaign

Football Insider verdict

Following the eventual sacking of Sean Dyche, the atmosphere on Merseyside was so much more positive under Moyes’ reign, especially with The Friedkin Group’s takeover plot behind the scenes.

With Farhad Moshiri now gone, and much of the financial worries pushed to the back of supporters’ minds, the Toffees can look to push forward and upwards in a new era, and even a new stadium.

The current situation could be enough to attract bigger and better stars to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with Keith Wyness even telling Football Insider that James McAtee has been seen at a Liverpool hotel.

Football Insider also understands that Everton have joined Man United in the race for Wilfried Ndidi, with all signs pointing to an extremely positive campaign for the Toffees.

The signing of Barry could be extremely important, with the club often struggling for a constant figure in the final third, but some new additions to the forward line would be ideal this summer.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is now a free agent, with Beto likely to come off the bench yet again, and Iliman Ndiaye can only do so much to carry the attacking side of the squad on his shoulders.
