Alan Pardew stunned by Eberechi Eze to Tottenham news at Crystal Palace
Alan Pardew was left in disbelief at links between Crystal Palace superstar Eberechi Eze and a move to Tottenham this summer.
Mick Brown told Football Insider that Eze would be open to joining Tottenham if a move were to materialise, though the Eagles will try everything to keep him at Selhurst Park.
The 26-year-old has been an incredible servant in South London, notching 32 goals and 28 assists in 157 appearances, with 10 of those goal contributions coming in the Premier League this season.
It is no surprise to see Eze linked with a move away from Selhurst Park, much like Wilfried Zaha was during his eight-year permanent spell with the club.
Despite this, Pardew sees no future in which the creative attacker moves across London to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Ange Postecoglou continuously at risk of being sacked by Daniel Levy.
Eberechi Eze to choose Crystal Palace over Tottenham
Speaking to Spurs fan Majestic live on talkSPORT (6 April), Pardew reacted to his co-host alluding to the major potential signing and said: “Did you say Eze, by the way? What makes you think you’re going to get him? He’s Palace’s top man. Try and get him? He won’t go to Spurs.
“I can’t see it happening. He’s probably in the top 10 players in the Premier League at the moment.”
Oliver Glasner can build a fortress at The City Ground
Football Insider verdict
Oliver Glasner was on the brink of being sacked by Palace just a few months ago, so to see the turnaround now for the Austrian is just incredible.
The Eagles are just one game away from an FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium, next facing Aston Villa, and Eze can certainly be thanked for that season with six goals and 11 assists across all competitions.
Eberechi Eze’s Premier League seasons | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
2024/25 | 26 | 2 | 8 |
2023/24 | 27 | 11 | 4 |
2022/23 | 38 | 10 | 4 |
2021/22 | 13 | 1 | 1 |
2020/21 | 34 | 4 | 6 |
However, with the summer transfer window soon to open, Glasner will need to be well aware of some of the players who could leave Selhurst Park, including Jean-Philippe Mateta and Marc Guehi.
Man United are heavily linked with a move for Mateta, who has experienced a brilliant season in Palace colours, while Guehi has long been tipped for a move away after becoming an England international.
If Glasner can keep these players in South London despite the intense interest in multiple players from elsewhere in the Premier League, there is no telling how far the Eagles can fly in the division.
