Alan Shearer, Bruno Guimaraes react to Sandro Tonali’s Newcastle United message
Sandro Tonali’s latest update on social media has caught the attention of past and present Newcastle United stars.
The Italian has become a much-loved figure at St James’ Park since his £55million move from AC Milan two summers ago [Sky Sports], making 57 appearances during that time.
Football Insider understands that Newcastle will not entertain offers for Tonali despite links with a return to Italy, having created a brilliant midfield trio with Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes.
He also has 25 caps for the Italy national team, quickly growing into a key role on the pitch for club and country, and it would not be a surprise to see more clubs take an interest in the 25-year-old.
Instead of selling their best assets, like they could do with Alexander Isak amid a £130m bid from Liverpool, Football Insider understands, Eddie Howe will want to continue growing the squad and moving forward.

Sandro Tonali’s pre-season update
Taking to Instagram (15 July), Tonali wrote: “Getting into the rhythm,” as the Magpies begin pre-season preparations before games against Celtic, Arsenal, K-League All Stars, Tottenham, Espanyol, and Atletico Madrid.
Teammates Kieran Trippier, Guimaraes, Joelinton, Jacob Murphy, and Lewis Miley were all joined by club legend Alan Shearer in liking the midfield star’s post.
Eddie Howe handed Alexander Isak dilemma
Football Insider verdict
With news of a £130m bid from Arne Slot‘s side, the Magpies’ boss may not be able to keep the entirety of his squad ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League and Champions League campaigns.
Isak’s current contract situation at Newcastle also makes the player’s future all the more confusing, with the Sweden international on a much lower wage over the last 12 months than he could be elsewhere.
New contract talks were promised a year ago, but with no major developments on a new deal, a move to Anfield could be far too tempting as the Reds aim for another Premier League title.

The signing of Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike would certainly soften the blow of Isak leaving, but with 62 goals in 109 total appearances, he will not be an easy man to replace.
A deal for the 23-year-old Frenchman will not come cheap either, especially with several other Premier League sides keeping tabs on the player, so the Magpies need to act quickly to get their man.
Signing another defender may also be a sensible decision for Howe over the coming weeks, with Dan Burn and Fabian Schar often left without back-up, and the links continue to emerge.
