Alan Shearer believes Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli and Chelsea anchorman N’Golo Kante were the “right” and “deserving” winners for their respective PFA awards.
France international Kante picked up the main prize, while his London counterpart received the Young Player of the Year award for the second consecutive season.
Both have been instrumental figures for their teams this term as they aim to win the Premier League title, with Chelsea currently leading their rivals by four points.
Kante beat the likes of Harry Kane and Eden Hazard to the PFA Player of the Year award prize, while Alli saw off competition from Romelu Lukaku and Leroy Sane to name a few.
After the duo were honoured on Sunday evening, the Premier League’s highest ever goalscorer had this message for the two players.
“Congratulation to Dele Alli and N’Golo Kante,” Shearer wrote on his personal Twitter account. “The right and deserving winners of the PFA Young Player and Player of the Year awards.”

Both Alli and Kante are very different, yet high-quality players in their own right, with the latter more of a defensive backbone than the goalscoring midfielder.
Alli has found the back of the net on 20 occasions in all competitions this season, including during his sides 4-2 FA Cup semi-final defeat against Chelsea on Saturday.
Furthermore, he has scored on 16 occasions in the league, matching the likes of Eden Hazard, Sergio Aguero and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the goalscoring department.
By contrast, Kante, who the title with Leicester during the previous campaign, has been a defensive rock for Chelsea in the middle of the park.
His ability to break up play and continuously suffocate his opponents for space has been a key reason as to why his team are on course to clinching the title.
