Alan Shearer said Newcastle United could have “no complaints” about the Chelsea game, as they simply lost to the better team on Saturday.
The Match of the Day pundit posted his view on Twitter after watching his former side lose 3-1 to last season’s league champions.
No complaints today. Effort was there but beaten by a much better team. #cfcnufc

The club legend’s tweet angered fans, who seem to have plenty of complaints over the Magpies’ performance.
One fan questioned if he had watched the same game as Shearer after reading his comment, and several fans asked how the 47-year-old could suggest effort was shown because they didn’t see any.
Here are some examples of fans disagreeing with Shearer:
Was it though Alan, did we watch the same game as each other?

That was the most effortless game ive seen. Tactics were so negative. You cant sit back all game in the premiership.

The Magpies actually took the lead in the game against Chelsea through Dwight Gayle but they could only hold on to their lead for nine minutes.
Eden Hazard got his side back on level terms in the 21st minute with Alvaro Morata putting the Blues in front before the end of the first-half.
Hazard then struck again before the end of the game, by converting a penalty that Matt Ritchie had given away, after he was deemed to have fouled Victor Moses.
