Alan Shearer reacts to Sandro Tonali’s ‘even harder’ post amid Newcastle exit news
Sandro Tonali has prompted reactions on social media as speculation continues to swirl around the midfielder’s future at Newcastle United.
After netting a stunner in the 2-1 win over Brentford, it was the midfielder who opened the scoring against Man United on Sunday, 13 April, in what turned out to be a 4-1 win for the Magpies.
Harvey Barnes scored a fantastic brace past Altay Bayindir, with Andre Onana having been dropped by Man United, and Bruno Guimaraes netted a late fourth after Alejandro Garnacho’s early equaliser.
Despite becoming a much-loved figure at St James’ Park, Tonali is thought to have already informed Newcastle of his desire to leave this summer, with Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze being eyed as a replacement.
For now, however, he continues to be an important part of Eddie Howe’s Carabao Cup-winning squad.
Sandro Tonali aiming for more before leaving Newcastle United
Taking to Instagram (13 April), Tonali wrote: “Job’s not finished. Time to push even harder now,” with teammates, Sven Botman, Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton all liking the post, and so too Alan Shearer.
Eddie Howe to fear for summer transfer window amid multiple star exits
Football Insider verdict
Tonali could be just the first of multiple big-name exits at St James’ Park this summer if he goes, with Alexander Isak being linked with a move to Liverpool, and Guimaraes’ future also a concern.
Anthony Gordon is another name linked with a Newcastle exit, but with silverware now claimed by the Magpies and a top-five finish on the cards, it will be easier to attract some major signings.

Of course, PSR restrictions could be somewhat of an issue for Howe this summer, which is why one of the aforementioned stars could leave for big money, but the club is quickly becoming a juggernaut again.
Howe deserves all the plaudits for his accomplishments so far, taking Newcastle from a relegation-threatened side to one lifting a trophy at Wembley Stadium after beating Liverpool.
While supporters are worried about their players being linked with exits already, signing replacements will not be as difficult as it once was, with the funds readily available to make deals happen.
