Alan Shearer stunned by ‘absolutely outstanding’ exit-bound Man United player
Alan Shearer was blown away by “absolutely outstanding” Man United ace Amad Diallo against Everton.
Shearer commended the youngster for his performance at wing-back, a position he’s never played in his career before the arrival of Ruben Amorim, and his immediate understanding of the new manager’s plans.
The 22-year-old is currently set to leave the club in the summer as his contract expires, subject to talks with the Portuguese, and United now have just four weeks to trigger his extension option.
Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast Newcastle United legend Shearer said: “Amad Diallo was absolutely outstanding on the right-hand side. He was fantastic – player of the match. He was a constant threat. His work-rate, his attitude, his understanding of what his manager wants from him in that position is brilliant.”

While the Ivory Coast international wasn’t on the scoresheet in the Red Devils 4-0 thumping against the Toffees, his all-around performance saw him claim 70% of the vote for man of the match on United’s official website.
In Amorim’s first Premier League win as United boss Diallo earned two assists with Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee both bagging braces to move the club up to ninth in the table.
It is also the first time in the 22-year-old has played 90 minutes in three consecutive league games, showing just how pivotal he has become to the Red and White Army in recent weeks.
The Ivorian has delivered six goal involvements in his last five games for the Red Devils, showcasing his impressive form despite major changes in the dug out.
Diallo has excelled in the right wing-back role for United. His defensive strength and grit combined with his explosive pace on the break alongside his composure in front of goal have made transition perfectly into the Portuguese coach’s 3-4-2-1 system where his versatility and skills are key to the team’s success.
