Alan Shearer: This is what would happen if Everton beat Liverpool
By Amir Mir
Alan Shearer has stated that it would be a “great achievement” if Everton can beat Liverpool because they would only be three points off their rivals.
Ronald Koeman’s side make a short trip across the city on Saturday afternoon looking to pick up their first win at Anfield since 1999.
The duo are separated by six points in the Premier League table with the Reds currently occupying the final Champions League spot.
Three points for the Toffees at the weekend would dent their rival’s chances of securing a top-four place and increase their chances an unlikely finish in the CL places.
Ahead of the match, former Premier League winner Shearer gave his thoughts on the mouth-watering encounter.

“If Everton were to win that game they would only be three points behind Liverpool,” Shearer told Coral’s official YouTube account.
“When you consider that the plaudits that Liverpool have been given this season, it will be a great achievement.”
During the reverse fixture at Goodison Park in December, Sadio Mane scored a late injury-time winner to help seal all three points for the away team.
Now, Koeman will be hoping his team can win the bragging rights and close the six-points gap on their neighbours in the table.
At this moment in time, Everton are seventh in the Premier League table and if they have any ambitions of finishing higher then the next three matches will be crucial.
After the Liverpool game on Sunday, they travel to Old Trafford on Tuesday night to take on Manchester United before hosting Leicester City on April 9 at Goodison Park.
