Aleksandar Mitrovic to Everton: Keith Wyness drops emphatic transfer verdict

Aleksandar Mitrovic has been out of the Premier League for two years but has now been linked with a return to England with Everton.

According to talkSPORT (2 June), Everton and West Ham are considering moves while AC Milan are also keen.

The report claims the Serbia international, who has scored 68 goals in 79 games for Al-Hilal, is available for £40million and would take a pay cut this summer.

David Moyes’ side are currently in need of striking reinforcements with Armando Broja returning to Chelsea after his loan and Dominic Calvert-Lewin currently out of contract later this month.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has given his “honest” verdict on a summer move for Mitrovic.

Mitrovic is not the right man for Everton, says Wyness

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted he is a “fairly clear no” on the idea of Mitrovic playing for Everton.

He has previously scored 38 goals in 129 Premier League outings during his time at Newcastle and Fulham.

Wyness insisted the 30-year-old does not have the right temperament for Moyes – who would also prefer a more all-action forward.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Let me be honest, I think it would be the wrong move for Everton or any Premier League club.

“He’s 30. Although the Saudi Pro League won’t be as punishing on the body, the heat can be sapping. I’ve been down there a lot.

“I don’t think he’s the right type of player for Moyes. He’ll be looking for a striker who can do more than just finish.

“Delap would’ve been perfect.

“Moyes wants more from his number nine.

“Also, I don’t think Mitrovic has got the right temperament for Moyes. I don’t think he’d fit into the current squad.

“I’m a no on that one, and a fairly clear no.”

Everton ready to seal attacking midfielder deal

Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (3 June) that Everton will be in the market for more attacking midfield reinforcements despite already completing a permanent move for Charly Alcaraz.

The Toffees have activated their £12.6million option to sign Alcaraz, 22, from Flamengo.

Matt O’Riley has also been linked with a potential switch this summer, but Football Insider has revealed (2 June) that Brighton will demand to recoup their total investment on the midfielder.
