Alex Moreno ‘interested’ in Leeds move as Villa ready to accept offer
Alex Moreno is “interested” in joining Leeds United in the summer transfer window as he eyes a move away from Aston Villa.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what his sources have said about the 32-year-old’s future.
Leeds are aiming to bring in a new left-back as they look set to lose Junior Firpo, and are considering a move to sign the Spaniard for a cut-price fee.
Former Elland Road goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider that Firpo will leave Leeds as part of a busy summer transfer window as they target a new left-back.
They will not be alone in their pursuit of Moreno, though, as the likes of Real Betis, Real Sociedad and Burnley are also keeping a close eye on his situation.
Meanwhile, ex-Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Leeds are working on signing Firpo’s replacement amid interest in Kostas Tsimikas.

Leeds United eye Alex Moreno swoop after Aston Villa latest
Moreno spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest and is not expected to be part of Unai Emery’s first-team plans upon his return to Villa Park.
At 32 years old and with Premier League experience under his belt, Daniel Farke has identified him among the top targets to strengthen his squad at left-back.
O’Rourke explained that the Leeds boss is keen to add more experience to his squad while they continue their efforts to prepare for life in the Premier League.
“He is on Leeds United’s radar for this left-back position,” he told Football Insider.
“It’s a position Daniel Farke is looking to strengthen in, with Junior Firpo seemingly leaving the club on a free transfer in a potential return to Real Betis.
“What we know about Moreno is he doesn’t have a long-term future at Aston Villa.
“He spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest and didn’t play as much as he expected there.
“He has a bit of Premier League experience and at 32 years old he has good experience in general.
“A lot of clubs are interested in Moreno, Real Betis are interested in him as well as Firpo, Real Sociedad and fellow newly-promoted side Burnley.
“Villa are open to offers for Moreno and he’s going into the final year of his contract at Villa Park.
“He’s unlikely to get back into Unai Emery’s plans at left-back when they’ve got Lucas Digne and Ian Maatsen both in that position.
“If Leeds can land him for a cut-price fee, he’s somebody they could be interested in.”

Callum Wilson transfer update emerges at Elland Road
On top of their ambitions to sign a new left-back, Leeds are also looking to strengthen up front ahead of their return to the Premier League.
Football Insider revealed that Leeds are considering signing Callum Wilson from Newcastle, but are concerned about his age and fitness issues.
The 33-year-old looks set to leave the Magpies upon the expiry of his contract, but after missing most of the season through multiple injuries, clubs are not convinced.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider last month that Leeds are interested in Wilson due to his Premier League experience despite their ongoing doubts.
