Alex Scott sends message to Tyrone Mings after ‘jaw-breaking’ elbow in Aston Villa win

Alex Scott has sent Aston Villa’s Tyrone Mings a message, after the defender’s horror elbow left the Bournemouth man in hospital.

It was eventually confirmed that Scott had broken his jaw as a result of the incident, with the Englishman undergoing surgery to correct the problem.

The Villa man escaped without punishment, but former PGMOL chief and ex-FIFA official Keith Hackett exclusively told Football Insider that Mings was lucky not to be sanctioned.

Hackett said that the challenge was “reckless” and a yellow card offence at a minimum.

Villa ended up winning the game 1-0, with an Ollie Watkins header ensuring Unai Emery’s side travelled back to the Midlands with all three points.

Scott posts Mings message

Scott will not recover in time to play again in either of Bournemouth’s last two Premier League games, against Manchester City and Leicester.

Andoni Iraola’s side still have a chance of clinching European football next season, just two points behind Brentford who occupy the final Conference League position.

Taking to Instagram (14 May), the injured midfielder seemed to forgive Mings for the violent challenge, in a post on his story.

The England Under-21 international published a photo of himself and the Villa centre-back embracing on the pitch after the incident, with a handshake emoji quelling any suggestions of hard feelings.

Bournemouth summer departures begin

Football Insider Verdict

With the news that Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid is a done deal, the summer departures from the Vitality Stadium have already begun.

Antoine Semenyo has been linked with Man United and Newcastle, while Milos Kerkez also has a number of top clubs interested in him.

Of course, the only reason why all Bournemouth’s stars have caught the attention of the big teams is because the Cherries have been so impressive this season.

Their high-pressing style of play has seen the likes of Man City and Arsenal come unstuck at the Vitality Stadium, and Spurs’ interest in Iraola comes as a result of all their good performances.

The south coast side must ensure that they don’t let too many top talents depart this summer though, as otherwise they could find themselves sliding towards the relegation zone next season.

Cherries fans will not be worried however, as the Bournemouth recruitment team has proved over the last few years that they have the ability to identify young and upcoming talent.
