Alexander Isak ‘on strike already’ as Newcastle United fans all say the same about decision vs Burnley

Newcastle United fans were all overjoyed after Alexander Isak missed out on the Liverpool squad to play Burnley following his British record transfer deal this summer.

The blockbuster transfer deal arguably of all-time finally got over-the-line on transfer deadline day as Isak left Newcastle to join Liverpool.

The Sweden international refused to play for his previous club with Eddie Howe plunging into the market to find a replacement as Newcastle landed Nick Woltemade who scored on his debut against Wolves (13 September).

Fellow forward signing Yoane Wissa from Brentford is injured for Newcastle and is expected to be out in the short-term as the Toon revel in their new striker additions.

Newcastle United fans tease Alexander Isak after omission from Liverpool squad to face Burnley

The former Borussia Dortmund striker has had little action this season with zero minutes in pre-season and a late cameo for Sweden off-the-bench during the international break.

However, footage emerged during the week of the 25-year-old in training with the Premier League champions as Reds fans began to build up their excitement to see the marquee signing.

Alas, the number nine did not make the final match day squad with in-form forward Hugo Ekitike continuing to hold down the starting berth up top.

Magpies fans were jubilant online at the news of his omission from the team most likely due to lack of match fitness as Isak prepares to make his possible debut against Atletico Madrid in the midweek.

The feeling of betrayal and dislike was evident amongst the Newcastle faithful who were elated as the Scandinavian was made to wait for his first start for his new club.

Fans joked over the Swede refusing to play as he did at St James’ Park stating: “Isak still on strike?” with another saying: “Isak can’t even get on the bench.”
