Alexis Mac Allister and Virgil van Dijk react to Joe Gomez’s update as his Liverpool place revealed
Liverpool players were quick to react to Joe Gomez’s latest update on social media amid speculation around his future.
The Englishman had endured a frustrating year at Liverpool last term after initially playing a rotational role under Arne Slot before suffering an injury that kept him out for the season.
Gomez suffered a serious hamstring injury in the FA Cup defeat to Plymouth back in January, and then suffered a setback in pre-season as he missed the pre-season tour in Asia.
His future had come under speculation during the summer as Brighton and Crystal Palace made a move to sign Gomez.
Neither move materialised, but questions remain as Football Insider revealed Gomez could leave Liverpool in January should Marc Guehi make the move the opposite way.
Despite the ongoing rumours, the defender took an opportunity to post an update on social media that quickly drew reactions from his Liverpool teammates.

Liverpool stars react as Joe Gomez shares training update
Gomez posted pictures from the latest Liverpool training session on Instagram reaffirming his place in Slot’s plans despite his limited minutes.
He saw a reaction from teammates on social media as Jeremie Frimpong commented with a message to say ”My guy” with a heart emoji.
Other players such as Virgil van Dijk, Alexis Mac Allister and former teammate Darwin Nunez also showed support by liking the message.
Although several clubs expressed interest in Gomez over the summer, the defender is understood to be in no rush to leave Anfield.
Football Insider revealed on deadline day that AC Milan had also registered their interest in Gomez after their move for Manuel Akanji failed, but the Reds weren’t willing to let him go without signing a replacement.

Liverpool face Michael Olise transfer blow
Despite the transfer window ending, the hierarchy continue to plan for the long term, particularly with Mohamed Salah’s future often the subject of speculation. Michael Olise has been recently linked to Liverpool as a potential replacement, but any deal now looks complicated.
Despite the reports, former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider that Bayern Munich will likely offer Olise a new contract to convince him to stay in Germany.
The Frenchman has a crucial role under Vincent Kompany’s plans, and despite the long-standing interest from the Reds, Bayern appear determined to keep him in Munich.
