Alexis Mac Allister sends message after Liverpool torn apart by PSG, Van Dijk reacts
Alexis Mac Allister sent a battle cry to Paris Saint-Germain after Liverpool secured a smash-and-grab victory at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday.
Alisson was man of the match as Arne Slot’s side were totally overwhelmed by a dominant PSG side in the first leg on 5 March and struggled to remain on level terms for most of the match.
That was until Harvey Elliott, who had replaced Mohamed Salah with just minutes remaining, latched onto Darwin Nunez’s pass to secure the all-important win against the run of play.
There was plenty of controversy, of course. Ibrahima Konate could have sent Liverpool down to 10 men, but following a VAR review, the Frenchman was not deemed to have made a foul on the edge of the box.
It was a hugely frustrating night for the Reds as shots rained down on Alisson’s goal for the majority of 90 minutes, saved by one moment of brilliance at the death.

Taking to Instagram [5 March], Mac Allister wrote: “We take the lead, but the battle continues at home,” with muscle and train emojis.
Virgil van Dijk was one of the many reacting, with the Dutch defender replying with a clapping emoji, while Elliott commented with two fire emojis.
Liverpool supporters concerned by Mohamed Salah’s performance
Football Insider verdict
Salah, who has yet to sign a new contract at Liverpool, was a shell of his former self at the Parc des Princes, failing to even register a single shot in his 86 minutes on the pitch.
Elliott had more of an impact in his rather short cameo than the Egyptian managed in the entire game, marked completely out of the match by full-back Nuno Mendes.

Offering the biggest spark until substitutions were made, Dominik Szoboszlai attempted his very best to break his teammates out of the Liverpool half, only to be surrounded by PSG players.
It was a hugely frustrating night for the Reds, at least until the last-gasp goal, which saw Liverpool fans forget all about the Nunez drama, given he assisted Elliott for the dramatic finish.
