Alexis Mac Allister’s response to Real Madrid revealed after Liverpool latest

Alexis Mac Allister has been frequently linked with a move to Real Madrid despite having played a starring role for Liverpool in his three seasons at the club.

It was Mac Allister‘s header which saw Arne Slot’s side beat Real Madrid 1-0 in the Champions League, and that has done little to ease their interest in his signature.

Los Blancos are still searching for a long-term replacement for both Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, and are undergoing somewhat of a squad overhaul.

As a result, the Argentina international has been heavily linked with a move to the Bernabeu, as Xabi Alonso is believed to be a big fan of his.

Alexis Mac Allister responds to Real Madrid interest

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in May that Real Madrid were interested in signing Mac Allister, with Alonso keeping tabs.

However, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the midfielder played down links during the summer and remains happy at Liverpool with no immediate intentions to seek a move elsewhere.

This comes as the player’s dad confessed they would not rule out a move to Madrid one day, but also clarified he is happy at Liverpool as things stand.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “This speculation about Mac Allister and Real Madrid has been going on for a while now.

“The last few transfer windows, there has been talk about it. You just never know.

“Obviously we know that Real Madrid are probably missing a midfielder right now. They haven’t really replaced Tony Kroos or Luka Modric in that midfield engine room.

“His dad previously has spoken about it before saying he was flattered by the interest and would never rule out a move to such a big club like Real Madrid.

“To be fair to the player, he played down speculation in the summer saying he is happy at Liverpool and there had been no contact made.

“As it stands right now, it’s just speculation. He’s happy at Liverpool, Liverpool are happy with McAlister. So I don’t expect any move imminently on that one in there.

“As I said, Madrid, I’m sure we’ll be looking at a number of players as they normally do.”

Meanwhile, Brown previously told Football Insider that Liverpool have no plans to sell Mac Allister and were prepared to block interest from Madrid in the summer.

Real Madrid plotting swoop for another Liverpool star

After Trent Alexander-Arnold made the switch to Madrid in the summer, and faced Liverpool fans fury at Anfield, Los Blancos are eyeing more of the Reds’ stars.

Alongside Mac Allister, Ibrahima Konate has been linked with a move to Madrid with his Liverpool contract set to expire at the end of the season.

While contract talks have taken place at Anfield, there is a growing feeling he could decide to depart on a free transfer when his contract expires.

This comes as Football Insider exclusively revealed on 6 November that Liverpool fear Konate is close to joining Madrid with a formal agreement edging nearer.

Sources say that negotiations over a new contract for the French centre-back are still “deadlocked” with time now running out for Slot’s side.
