Alfredo Morelos faces extended spell out of Rangers XI after Tuesday development – Hutton
Alan Hutton has claimed Alfredo Morelos could face an extended spell out of the Rangers XI if Antonio Colak continues to score goals.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Gers defender said it is now up to Morelos, 26, to fight his way back in to the starting lineup.
Colak, 28, scored his fourth goal of the season in a 2-2 draw with PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday (16 August).
The Croatian has started every game for the Bears so far this season.
Morelos was an unused substitute against PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday and is yet to start a game across all competitions this season.
When asked if Van Bronckhorst would likely choose Colak over Morelos for the second leg of the tie, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think he will now.
“Obviously it’s a player that the manager has brought in. He wants to put his own stamp onto the team. He was probably a little bit unsure with the future of Morelos, is he staying is he going.

“He’s [Colak] done nothing wrong. At the end of the day he’s been brought in to score goals, Rangers struggled at the end of last season for that, he’s done his job and done it really well so I don’t see why he would then go and change it.
“It’s really up to Morelos to go and prove his worth and when given that opportunity to take it.“
