Alfredo Morelos told to ‘screw his head on’ after Rangers talks – Hutton

Alan Hutton has claimed Giovanni van Bronckhorst won’t play Alfredo Morelos and Antonio Colak together at Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender said Morelos could find himself back in the starting XI if he “screws his head on”.

The 26-year-old was on the bench for the Bears on Saturday (3 September).

The striker was subbed on for the final 30 minutes of the 4-0 defeat to Glasgow rivals Celtic.

As quoted by the Daily Mail (30 August), Giovanni van Bronckhorst has held positive talks with the Colombia international over his future at Ibrox.

The Gers boss said the striker will be “important” for his side over the coming months.

When asked if Giovanni van Bronckhorst would play two up front once Morelos is back to full fitness, Hutton told Football Insider: “There’s obviously that potential there.

Giovanni’s never done that and I think he has spoken about how it’s not really his style of play so I don’t expect him to go down that route.

Rangers

A fully fit Alfredo Morelos makes your team better in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, Colak has come in and hit the ground running so you can’t really argue with what he’s given.

If he [Morelos] applies himself in the correct manner that he has before he’s obviously going to challenge him. I think that’s what the manager will want, two players vying for one position and pushing each other. So hopefully he can screw his head on and do that.
